SAN FRANCISCO – June 1, 2024 -- The Bob Mizer Foundation launches the first in a series of playing cards for its latest Kickstarter campaign.

The cards will feature images of AMG models, mostly from Mizer’s color era of the 1970s and 1980s. Nude images of Mizer’s most popular models will be featured, including Tico Patterson, Gerald Oglesby, and John Apache, while the cards’ backs will show a design of Mizer’s subjective character analysis symbols in either red or blue, along with the Foundation’s logo. The reward tiers will offer different combinations of both red and blue decks.

Den Bell, the Foundation’s founder, president, and CEO, says that earlier in his career, Mizer designed a deck of AMG playing cards himself, but they were never released to the public. The Foundation is in possession of the only surviving prototype, which served as the inspiration for this project.

“We’d like to think we’re continuing something that Bob wasn’t able to finish,” Bell says, “and we think our donors will agree that this item will be a wonderfully unique way to honor his legacy, our singular mission for all these years.”

Designed by Foundation volunteer Scott Arakawa, the playing cards are casino-quality, with images bleeding to each card’s edge. They also will come encased in a two-part box made of durable cardboard, with images printed on the exteriors of both parts.

“We’re confident that these cards will not only become highly collectible,’ Bell adds, “they’ll also raise greater awareness of and appreciation for our organization and Bob Mizer’s place in art history. In fact, we have already begun discussing the next deck in the series.”

The Kickstarter campaign opens in late May and will conclude right after the July 4 holiday.
